Our housekeeping and maintenance teams take great pride in keeping the home clean, fresh, safe, and looking at its best, which was particularly noted in our recent CQC inspection. The refurbished lounge, quiet room and dining room are all beautifully proportioned with high ceilings and large windows filling the rooms with light. The architect designed modern conservatory gives a fantastic striking space.

Caring for people safely and protecting them from harm
Sherry hour is enjoyed before lunch each day, when residents and staff gather to socialise. An afternoon tea is held in the dining room every day at 2.30pm, which is becoming a popular occasion with residents and their visiting friends and family! We hold special seasonal days throughout the year, theming our food around all the major festivals, as well as sporting and royal events.
All bedrooms have en suite facilities; there are ample communal rooms and additional bathrooms and toilets. There is a passenger lift large enough to accommodate a wheelchair dependant person and one escort. Behind the home is a sizeable paved garden area, which provides safe outdoor space, accessible by wheelchair. Off road parking is provided at the front of the building for a number of cars.

There are steps to the front entrance but wheelchair access can be gained through a side gate which leads to the paved area and its entrance. As a charity we are able to offer very competitive rates for residential care. We have never had to ask anyone to leave due to their personal financial circumstances. – there are some services which we can’t rate, while some might be under appeal from the provider. We work closely alongside residents and their families to create a person centred plan of care for each individual, which is constantly reviewed. Each resident has a named key worker who helps them settle in and becomes their main contact to help with day to day needs. We offer specialist care for those with dementia in all its varying forms. – the service is performing well and meeting our expectations. Our chefs prepare fresh nutritious and well balanced menus each day, offering a wide range of options at every meal.
We welcome guests to join residents for a meal and we enjoy hosting family parties for any occasion. We liaise closely with a multi-disciplinary team of external health professionals including doctors and specialist nurses to ensure every resident’s care needs are met. We have close links with our local GP surgery who hold a fortnightly surgery at Astell house and we have other visiting services such as chiropodists and opticians. Our team liaises with the NHS rapid response team to avoid unnecessary hospital admissions. Astell House is a beautifully refurbished characterful home offering high quality residential care for up to 36 residents in a peaceful and relaxed setting.
This care home is situated in a residential area very near to Cheltenham Town centre and is in close proximity to local shops, amenities and bus services. It provides nursing and personal care, predominantly to the older person. There are six beds designated to the care of those with dementia.
